2 of our favourites from central and northern Italy.
The 2019 Spergle from our friends at Il Farneto is 100% Spergola varietal (yep, we had not heard of this one either!) with a good hit of skin contact. It has bags of stone fruit (peaches, apricots), fresh acidity and a nice lick of tannin on the finish to round things off. All organic, biodynamic and worked "natutally".
The 2017 Diogene is a cracking Dolcetto with a lick of Croatia from Piemonte. Think blackberries, a hint of reduction, some classic burgundy "farmyard funk" and ripe grippy tannins. As with the Spergle, all natural winemakers techniques and care.
